Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man found dead on a baseball field in the Morley Field area of Balboa Park.
San Diego Police (SDPD) said they found the body when they responded to reports of a man down near the Veledrome area of Morley Field at 7:08 a.m. Sunday.
The 44-year-old victim was found dead in the grass, police said. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives are investigating. The field was closed as police investigated.
Police know the victim's identity and are witholding it until all family is notified.
