Police Investigate Suspicious Death in Mission Valley Condo

San Diego Police have opened up a suspicious death investigation after a man was found dead in a Mission Valley condominium.

Officials say a 911 call just before 10 a.m. Wednesday reported a dead man in a first floor unit of the Presidio Place complex, located in the 5700 block of Friars Road.

In the unit's bedroom, officers found a 31-year-old man with trauma to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner could not determine the victim's cause of death, so homicide detectives were called in to take over the investigation, according to police.

A woman who lives in the apartment was taken police headquarters for questioning, but she was soon released.

The medical examiner must perform an autopsy to determine the man's cause of death. San Diego Police Department Lt. Paul Rorrison confirmed to NBC 7 the autopsy was scheduled for Thursday morning, but had no further updates to release.

Police have identified the man found dead in the condo, but his name is being withheld until his family is notified.
