Police Hunt Three Armed Men in Bank Robbery

Police say the three men who robbed Escondido bank over Thanksgiving weekend remain at large after an initial suspect has been cleared of driving the robbers' getaway vehicle.

Escondido police Lt. Chris Wynn says the suspect, who was taken into custody Friday shortly after the 6 p.m. robbery, was released Saturday after investigators determined that he was not driving the U-Haul truck that the robbers used to flee the crime scene.

The Washington Mutual on El Norte Parkway was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash when three men armed with handguns entered the bank and ordered employees and the lone customer to lie on the floor.

One of the robbers jumped the teller's counter and took the cash. The men left in a U-Haul parked in the bank's lot.
