Police Discover Car of Ex-SDSU Student Found Dead in Nev. Desert

Authorities say they've recovered the rental car of a 27-year-old former San Diego State University student who was found dead in the Nevada desert.

Nye County Detective Joe McGill says a police helicopter searching for the 2014 Hyundai Accent spotted it Saturday about three miles away from where Margay Edwards' body was found Sept. 25.

McGill says the car was abandoned and stuck in a ravine, and two cellphones were found inside, although it's unclear whether they belonged to Edwards.

Edwards was from Los Osos, California who studied business administration at San Diego State University, though school officials say she did not graduate and had not attended since 2013.

She last contacted her family in mid-September and was later found dead near a dirt track outside of Pahrump. Nye County Sheriff's officials called the death suspicious.

Clark County coroner's officials haven't released a cause of death as of Monday afternoon.

McGill didn't say whether investigators have suspects or people of interest in the case.
