Police have not forgotten Jose "Hugo" Lopez, and now they are seeing if the public remembers him

Police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect in the murder of 34-year-old Jose “Hugo” Lopez on the one-year anniversary of his death. San Diego Police are offering $1,000 to anyone with information.

On June 24, 2017, SDPD responded to a shooting near the intersection of South 31st Street and Martin Avenue in the Logan Heights neighborhood. Officers found Lopez lying in the middle of the intersection and began lifesaving measures.

Lopez was transported to UCSD Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that Lopez had been walking on South 31st Street when a dark-colored two-door sedan with tinted windows stopped and an unknown passenger got out and shot Lopez.

Lopez was struck multiple times; the passenger got back into the car, which was last seen going westbound in the 3000 block of Martin Avenue, according to the SDPD.
