The principal of a South Bay high school said an honor student taken into police custody would likely face a felony charge after a half-dozen explosive devices were detonated at the school on Friday afternoon.
Ten "plastic bottle" bombs were found on the campus of San Ysidro High School on Friday afternoon, according to San Diego Fire Rescue spokesman Maurice Luque. No injuries or damage have been reported.
San Ysidro High School received a bomb threat at 3:20 p.m. The remaining students and faculty members at the school were then evacuated to the school's football field. By 4:15 p.m., a large crowd of students was visible outside the school, which is located in the 5350 block of Airway Road.
The bombs were big enough to have possibly killed somebody, Luque said. Investigators believe the bombs were set off as a senior prank on the last day of school for seniors.
