Pit Bulls Pour onto the Street, Cause Cars to Collide

A chaotic scene as a garage fire in Spring Valley sent almost a dozen pit bulls onto Camp Road Friday night, causing cars to collide.

"Dog's were fighting everywhere, people were yelling and screaming," said fire victim Robert Stoltey.

La Mesa firefighters say when they arrived, there were dogs fighting in the street and the garage was engulfed in flames.

Neighbors say the family that lives in the home breeds the dogs. "These dogs are like her life.  She loves her dogs so it was really scary to see all these people that we know in the fire and the fire coming out of the roof." said Andrea Lear.

Firefighters say the dogs ran into the street. A driver tried to avoid one of the dogs and crashed into another car. Police had to use tasers to get the dogs under control.

One dog died in the fire.

The damage from the fire was limited to the garage and attic, firefighters said. Investigators are looking into the cause.
