Three pit bull-mix dogs were shot and killed in North County, but not everybody's sure they are the same dogs that mauled a miniature horse and killed two dogs earlier this year.in March.

The two brown and black pit bull/retriever mixes and one black and white pit bull/retriever mix were killed on the San Pasqual Indian Reservation, reported the North County Times. The shooting took place on Canal Road as the dogs attacked a ram, said Lt. Dan DeSousa of the county's animal control department.

The shooting took place near Paradise Mountain's Sunset Vista Lane, a community that borders the reservation east of Valley Center. Several Sunset Vista residents inspected photos of the dogs shot and killed Friday. While Lt. Dan DeSousa of the county's animal control department said the animals shot weren't involved in the earlier incidents the horse's owner told the paper that two of the dogs that were shot may have attacked her pet.

It's not clear who shot the dogs, the paper reported. DeSousa said it was tribal police officers, who denided doing so.

The incidents earlier this year occurred in Paradise Mountain, an otherwise quiet community east of Valley Center on the edge of the San Pasqual Indian Reservation, reported the Times.
