Women will soon be serving on-board Navy submarines.
The Pentagon moved Tuesday to lift a decades-old policy prohibiting women on subs. Until now the Pentagon prevented women from serving on subs, claiming close quarters would make co-ed service difficult to manage.
Tuesday's move is part of a gradual reconsideration of women's roles in the military. Congress now has 30 days to weigh in.
San Diego has seven attack submarine's that are home-ported at the sub base in Pt. Loma including the Ashville, Helena, Jefferson City and Topeka.
