Pentagon To Women: You Can Now Serve On Subs

Pentagon lifts decades old policy porhibiting women on subs

Women will soon be serving on-board Navy submarines.

The Pentagon moved Tuesday to lift a decades-old policy prohibiting women on subs. Until now the Pentagon prevented women from serving on subs, claiming  close quarters would make co-ed service difficult to manage.

Tuesday's move is part of a gradual reconsideration of women's roles in the military.  Congress now has 30 days to weigh in.

San Diego has seven attack submarine's that are home-ported at the sub base in Pt. Loma including the Ashville, Helena, Jefferson City and Topeka.
