Pendleton Marine Going To Prison For Brush Fire

The fire forced evacuations in Fallbrook and Oceanside.

A local Marine faces up to a year in prison for starting a brush fire on Camp Pendleton last year, forcing evacuations in Oceanside and Fallbrook.

Lance Corporal Nason Lamb entered a guilty plea in court Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Marine says he set a clump of grass on fire while joking around with fellow Marines.  Lamb says he tried to put the fire out, but it got out of control.

It cost nearly $4 million to fight the fire.

As part of a plea agreement, Lamb could also be reduced in rank and receive a bad-conduct discharge.
