Authorities are investigating a deadly late-night pedestrian accident in Hillcrest, the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday on the southbound State Route 163, just south of Interstate 8.
People driving on the 163 called 911 to report a person walking on the roadway.
A short time later, the person was hit by a car and killed, CHP said.
It is unclear if the situation is considered a hit-and-run.
No further information was immediately available.
