A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tow truck near a grocery store in Vista Thursday night, officials confirmed.
The fatal collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of East Vista Way and Monte Mar Road, right near an Albertson’s grocery store.
Deputies said the pedestrian – described as a man between 35 and 45 years old – was crossing East Vista Way when he was hit by a flatbed tow truck owned by Yucaipa Towing.
When deputies and medics arrived, the victim was unconscious and unresponsive. First responders administered CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The victim’s name was not immediately released.
