A car ran over and killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning in the 1100 block of E. Valley Parkway in Escondido, according to the Escondido Police Department.
Paramedics were flagged down moments after the crash, but despite lifesaving efforts the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
It appears the victim was lying in the roadway before the crash, police said. Special equipment had be used to lift the car off of the victim.
The 24-year-old driver was not injured and alcohol or drugs are not suspected in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
