A 21-year-old man died after he ran across a freeway in Vista Friday night and was struck by a car, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
The crash occurred at 8:20 p.m. on the westbound State Route 78, east of Emerald Drive.
CHP officials said the man ran from the north to the south side of the freeway for unknown reasons. A car traveling on westbound could not avoid him in time and struck him.
The man has not been identified at this time, CHP said.
