Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run

A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run collision Saturday morning in Escondido, police confirmed.

The Escondido Police Department says the male pedestrian was fatally struck on West 10th Avenue, near South Escondido Boulevard, at around 6:45 a.m.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, but later died from his injuries, police said.

Police say the driver involved in the collision fled the scene and remains at large.

The suspect vehicle is described by officials as a dark-colored SUV, possibly a 1990s Isuzu Trooper.
