Woman Struck by Car in Pacific Beach

The collision happened around 9:30 p.m. on Garnet Avenue

A pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car on a busy street in Pacific Beach Friday night, according to police.

Police said the collision happened around 9:30 p.m. on at Garnet Avenue and Kendall Street.

A female pedestrian in her 40s was on her break from work at Silver Fox Bar crossing Garnet Avenue when she was hit by a car, police confirmed.

Police said the woman was on her phone as she stepped in front of the car.

The victim was unconscious and bleeding from the head following the collision. She was transported to Scripps La Jolla with broken legs and a skull fracture and possible brain bleeding.

Authorities said the driver is still at the scene and there is no indication that alcohol played a role in the accident.

Police are providing traffic control as investigators search the scene.
