Pedestrian Hit, Injured in Spring Valley Crash

A man was injured after he was hit by a car Monday night in Spring Valley.

The crash happened around 7:39 p.m. on Jamacha Road, west of the State Route 125, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

CHP Officer Kevin Pearlstein said the pedestrian, a transient in the area, was wearing dark-colored clothing and was jay walking on the on-ramp when a driver who did not see him approached the roadway.

The driver struck the pedestrian, and the man suffered hip, kidney and head injuries. Pearlstein said he was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to recover.

The driver stayed at the scene and was not charged in the accident, Pearlstein said. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision, the CHP said.

The victim was not immediately identified. No other information was available.
