Patent Prowess Gives San Diego No. 2 Ranking on Most Innovative Cities List

Other U.S. cities on the top 15 list were Boston, Minneapolis and Seattle.

San Diego is the world’s second-most innovative city, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Eindhoven, a city in the Netherlands, ranked first with 22.58 patents issued annually per 10,000 people in a metropolitan area. San Diego followed with 8.95 patents per 10,000, and San Francisco was third globally with 7.57 patents per 10,000.

Other U.S. cities on the top 15 list were Boston, Minneapolis and Seattle.
