Passengers Tackle Man on SoCal Bound Jetliner

Authorities say a man who claimed to have a bomb aboard an airliner bound for Los Angeles today and lunged for a door after it landed was tackled by other passengers and is being held for questioning.

Nobody was hurt. No other flights were disrupted.

Passenger Bruce Worrilow told Fox 11 News that Delta Air Lines Flight 110 from Atlanta was only minutes from landing at Los Angeles International Airport shortly before 10:30 a.m. when the man "started running ... (and) yelled 'I've got a bomb."'

An FBI spokeswoman says the plane was in the air when the man walked to the rear of the plane and scuffled with a flight attendant.

The spokeswoman says the man then stated he had a bomb.  After the plane rolled onto the taxiway, the man allegedly lunged for an exit door and also assaulted a passenger.

That prompted passengers and flight crew members to bind him with plastic ties.

FBI agents and airport police are questioning him.
