School Warns of Man Approaching Alpine Girl

School officials in Alpine are warning parents about an older man who has approached a girl walking home from school and offered her a ride.

The superintendent of the Alpine Union School District has let parents know about an unidentified man in a silver car who approached the student last week as she was walking on South Grade Road near La Force Road.

In both incidents, the girl had just gotten off the school bus on her way home from middle school.

The message from Superintendent Tom Pellegrino described the man as approximately 60 years old.

β€œSadly it doesn’t matter the community it can be a family-oriented community like Alpine, these things happen everywhere,” Pellegrino said.

He is urging students to walk in groups and is asking anyone with information to call the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
