Two Serra Mesa parents suspected of contributing to their 3-month old daughter's 2009 death were arrested Thursday morning.

Steven and Sara Davenger were detained at about 9 a.m. at the Naval Station on 32nd Street, according to the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit, which teamed with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service to make the arrest.

Aziya Davenger’s death was reported Oct. 13, 2009, when a man called police from 9060 Gramercy Dr.

An autopsy later revealed Aziya died of multiple unexplained injuries over time, police said, and her death was ruled a homicide.

The couple will be booked into San Diego Central Jail and Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility for felony child abuse, police said.
