Palm City Woman Rescued in Mobile Home Fire

A woman is recovering at UCSD Medical Center after a fire started in the kitchen of her mobile home

When firefighters arrived to a mobile home fire Sunday night, a woman suddenly appeared in the midst of the flames and smoke.

The woman was trapped inside the home on Coronado Avenue in the Palm City community.

San Diego Fire-Rescue was called to the scene just before 9 p.m.

Battalion Chief Steve Salaz said they jumped on the fire because this type of fire can quickly spread.

“These trailers - they burn hot and they burn fast,” Salaz said explaining how a lot of water is needed to battle this type of fire.

Firefighters pulled the woman from the home and EMTs transported her to UCSD Burn Center. No word on her condition.

Another person complained of smoke inhalation but firefighters weren’t sure how close that person was to the fire.

Some vehicles parked in the driveway were damaged.
