Padres Win 5th Straight

Friars Shut Out Arizona 5-0

The Padres have had to use 14 different starting pitchers in 2012. That number will likely rise to 15 on Monday when Jason Marquis' spot in the rotation comes up.

Usually that's very bad. But, sometimes, there's a silver lining. You find someone who might turn out to be pretty good.

In May The Padres picked up LHP Eric Stults from the White Sox. In August, Stults has turned in to a gem.

Friday night in Arizona, Stults threw 7.0 shutout innings in the Padres 5-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Stults even had a pair of hits and drove in 3 runs.

Stults has won his last three decisions, running his overall record with the Padres to 4-2.
