Padres Spring Training: Get To Know Tim Federowicz

Former Dodgers catcher sees playoff talent in San Diego

Matt Kemp was the big name in the Padres' blockbuster trade with the Dodgers. But, there was another guy who came down from Los Angeles in the deal.

Catcher Tim Federowicz is expected to be the backup to Derek Norris. He caught Clayton Kershaw during a division-winning season, so he knows how to handle top-notch pitching talent.

He suffered a setback in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Rockies, tearing the meniscus in his right knee. He'll likely have arthroscopic surgery and miss three or four weeks, which means he might not be ready for Opening Day in L.A. but his season is not in jeopardy.

NBC 7's Derek Togerson talked with Federowicz about which Padres pitcher has the best stuff, whether or not San Diego has the look of a playoff contender, and most importantly ... just how do you pronounce his last name?
