Padres Get Good News On Maybin

CF Elects Not To Have Surgery

After a few years of bad injury news in Spring Training, the Padres finally got something to go their way on Thursday.

Centerfielder Cameron Maybin is not going to have surgery after all.

Maybin ruptured a biceps tendon in his left arm making a diving catch on Sunday against the Dodgers, an injury the team thought would require a medical procedure.

However, according to mlb.com's Corey Brock, Maybin and Padres doctors took another look and decided the best course of action is rest and rehabilitation. If it works, Maybin could be on the field in four to six weeks, half the time we had expected.
