β€˜No B's' to Be Strictly Enforced at 65th Annual Over-the-Line Tournament

The tourney's 'No B's" ban bottles, bicycles, bowzers (dogs), babies, boas, bad attitudes or battles (fighting)

Crowds of people enjoying sport, sun and sand on Fiesta Island in July can only mean one thing - the Over-the-Line (OTL) Tournament has returned.

Locals know what a summer weekend at OTL means. Three-person teams swing softballs bat to try and score in the sand.

The rules of OTL are simple: games last three or four innings, no one has to run bases, and the main goal is to hit the ball β€œover the line” about 55 feet in front of the batter.

Teams dress up in matching costumes and bring tents, chairs, beer, and funny signs.

The event has been hosted in July by the Old Mission Bay Athletic Club (OMBAC) for 65 years.

This year's event will be July 14-15 and July 21-22.

While it's free to attend, organizers want to make sure you know, it's not a place for those under 18.

"Salty" language reigns supreme with team names that could make a Navy SEAL blush.

The tourney's "No B's" rules ban bottles, bicycles, bowzers (dogs), babies, boas, bad attitudes or battles (fighting).

Parking for OTL will be available at three locations this year: the Linda Vista trolley stop parking lot on Friars Road, beneath the Morena Boulevard overpass; the Bonita Cove parking lot on West Mission Bay Drive, across from the Bahia Hotel; the parking lot on the north corner of Fiesta Island and East Mission Bay drives at the entrance to Fiesta Island.

Organizers say a free shuttle will pick up OTL attendees from these lots and drop them off near the playing area at Fiesta Island starting at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. There is no shuttle service on Sunday; more info on shuttles can be found here.
