O'side Police Search for Missing Teen

Oceanside police investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating a 14-year old girl that they say is missing under suspicious circumstances.

Makaylia Williams, was last seen leaving an apartment on Marquette Street Sunday at 6:22 p.m. Williams was carrying a bag of trash to take to a dumpster in the alley police said.

When her mother noticed she had not returned an hour later, she called police to report her missing.

Twenty officers launched a grid search of the neighborhood and located a bag of trash near the apartment with its contents strewn on the ground.

Police found a bag of trash, later identified by the mother as the bag Makaylia was carrying, in a bush near the missing juvenile’s apartment with the contents strewn on the ground according to a news release.

Makaylia is described as 5’ 4”, 170 pounds, last seen wearing a summer dress with an orange/tan/white pattern on the fabric.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team used bloodhounds to search the neighborhood and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s Astrea Helicopter has searched the surrounding canyon.

The reverse 911 system was also launched.

The child’s mother said the juvenile is new to the neighborhood with few friends, and that is type of behavior is uncharacteristic.
