One Dead After Liquor Store Shooting

Chula Vista argument escalated outside the store on F St.

Police in Chula Vista are searching for a man responsible for shooting and killing another man outside a liquor store there.

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night on F Street near Broadway, police said.

The victim was buying beer at the liquor store when the suspect approached him and the two began arguing. The clerk told the two men to go outside.

The argument then escalated and the suspect -- described as being about 5'5" to 5'7", and in his early 20s -- took out a gun and shot the other man.

Witnesses heard three to five shots. The victim sustained one shot to his torso. He was taken to UCSD medical center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspect fled after the shooting.

Investigators are gathering evidence and examining store surveillance for more information leading to a suspect arrest.
