An Oceanside man who was convicted of murdering his wife in front of their two children was sentenced to 80 years in life in prison Thursday afternoon.
Dontaye Henderson shot Tamara Henderson in their apartment on New Year's Day in 2011. The couple's 2-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter were inside.
Henderson was arrested three days later at a bus terminal in Saint Louis, Mo. Dontaye was also on parole for raping his first wife in 2003.
Prosecutors said Tamara Henderson knew about her husband's past and called her mother the night before her death, to say she believed he was going to kill her.
