3 Escape Oceanside House Fire

Two adults and a juvenile escaped the early morning house fire uninjured, officials said

Flames and smoke damaged an Oceanside home early Monday morning, leaving three people without a place to stay, officials said.

When firefighters arrived to the home on Ely Street just after 3 a.m., they found a large column of smoke coming from the home’s garage according to Oceanside Fire Department officials.

Crews searched the home for the residents and then cut holes in the roof.

It was then they discovered the fire had moved into the home’s attic.

Using a ladder, crews were able to put the fire out in less than an hour.

The damage appears extensive, but no injuries have been reported.

More than 20 firefighters from Oceanside and Vista helped battle the fire.

The San Diego chapter of the American Red Cross will be providing the family shelter until the restoration process can occur.
