Cop Depicts Bloody Scene in Libby Lake Shootings

Fernando Felix Solano and Sandra Salgado were shot to death while sitting in Libby Lake Park on May 3

An Oceanside police officer described the moment he and other officers discovered the bodies of two teenagers shot to death in a local park six months ago.

Fernando Felix Solano, 16, and Sandra Salgado, 14, were found around 10:30 p.m. on May 3 in the northeast area of Libby Lake Park located north of the San Luis Rey River and east of Douglas Drive.

AL'C Robert Bejaran, Justin Gibson and Kenneth Hamilton are accused of the killings. Tyrone Blackmon, is charged with being an accessory to the crime.

At a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Officer Anis Trabelsi testified that he could smell gun powder as soon as he arrived at the park to investigate a report of gunshots fired.

When he arrived, he said he saw Solano sitting on a chair, with his feet up and crossed on a wooden box.

โ€œHis head was tilted back and looked like he had blood on his chest area,โ€ the officer testified.

He said next to Solano, he saw Salgado lying on the ground with her face in the dirt.

Officers immediately noticed both teenagers had suffered gunshot wounds and checked for a pulse.

Once they realized the teenagers were dead, Trabelsi put the information out on the radio and got his K-9 ready to start searching for a suspect.

Berjaran, 19, a documented gang member was in Donovan Prison being held on a parole violation when he was booked for the double-murder.

Solanoโ€™s younger sister Yessica said the teens had met at school and had been boyfriend and girlfriend for just a short time before the shootings.

Solano was a student at El Camino High School and is pictured as a freshman in the schoolโ€™s yearbook but the assistant principal said Solano stopped attending school last year.

Students told NBCSanDiego that Salgado attended Chavez Middle School.
