Not in My Backyard!

East County residents whose homes are now in the path of the proposed power line are awaiting a decision on its fate from the state Public Utilities Commission, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. That decision could come as soon as Dec. 18.

SDG&E officials, who proposed the 1,000-megawatt line in 2005, say it is needed to make the electricity system more reliable, lower electric rates and bring in renewable power required by law, the paper reported.
