Man Sought in North Park Attempted Sex Assault

The attack occurred on Texas Street just one block from Balboa Park police said

A North Park woman reported an attempted sexual assault about a block from Balboa Park.

A woman was walking down Texas Street around 7 p.m. Thursday when she said she was grabbed from behind.

A man who was walking toward the woman stopped to tie his shoe. When the woman walked past the man, he got up and grabbed her from behind she told police.

The woman was able to get out of the man’s grasp police said. She ran away screaming and used her cell phone to call 911.

By the time officers arrived, the suspect had left the area.

The suspect is described as about 28 to 32 years old, 5'10", 180 pounds with short dark hair and brown eyes. He may have a mustache according to the victim.

At the time of the attack, the man was wearing a light-toned T- shirt with a dark button-down shirt layered over it, the victim told police.

He was also wearing a dark baseball cap with stitching on it.
