New Year's Traffic Fatalities Slightly Up

New Year’s traffic fatalities were slightly up this year according to the California Highway Patrol.

Across the state there were 12 deaths this year compared to nine last year between 6 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Saturday. 

DUI arrests were also up across the state: 566 this year up from 510 in 2015.

In San Diego there were 30 DUI arrests this holiday weekend, which was down slightly from 34 arrests last year.

There were two fatalities this year compared with one last year.

Of the people killed statewide, one was a motorcyclist, two were pedestrians, and one was not wearing a seat belt.
