Volunteers will plant 26 trees in Balboa Park on Saturday as part of an initiative to add 500 trees in the area over two years.
The Balboa Park Conservancy launched its urban forest initiative after receiving a grant of almost $400,000 from Cal Fire in 2017.
San Diego Gas & Electric employees will work Saturday in the Marston Point area of the park to supplement the park's depleted tree canopy.
The Tree Balboa Park is an initiative to plant 500 trees in the area over two years by the Balboa Park Conservancy and the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department.
Their goal was to give visitors shade, beautify the park, and contribute to the city's Climate Action Plan.
