A volunteer high school coach is charged with child molesting just four days before his scheduled sentencing on another sex crime.
The suspect is Ryan Paul Carnell, formerly an assistant wrestling coach at Westview High, in Torrey Highlands, near Rancho Penasquitos.
Carnell molested a female student earlier this year, and held her captive, according to police. They said the the victim was a Westfield High student but that the alleged crimes did not happen on campus.
"When we hear of these issues, we take it very seriously and act on this very quickly," said Lt. Rick O'Hanlon of the San Diego Police Department.
Carnell recently pleaded guilty to providing pornography and marijuana to another teen-age girl. Police said there could be more victims.
