Neighbors Rescue Woman From Triple Beating

A 63-year-old woman was allegedly dragged and beaten for asking three men to be quiet.

Three men allegedly dragged a 63-year-old Oceanside woman her from her yard, beating and kicking her until neighbors rescued her, police told the North County Times.

The victim heard bottles breaking and voices in front of her house on South Tremont Street on Nov. 29 and asked three apparently drunken men to respect her neighborhood, Sgt. Kelan Poorman said.

Tyler Mackin, 23, a Rite Aid clerk and son of former Oceanside Councilwoman Shari Mackin, allegedly broke the woman's gate as he charged into her yard, then punched her in the face, the paper reported. Mackin, Richard Vaughan, 24, and Brandin Evinger, 23, dragged the woman from her yard and punched and kicked her, police said.

At least three neighbors came to the woman's aid and restrained the three men until police arrived, Poorman said.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, among other charges. The three are scheduled to appear in court Friday for a hearing.
