Gas Line Break Prompts Evacuation

A Point Loma neighborhood was evacuated Tuesday morning

San Diego Gas & Electric crews fixed a gas line in Point Loma after it broke Tuesday morning.

Construction workers struck a four-inch gas line with a back hoe just after 8:30 a.m.

Because the wind was blowing to the east, residents living in the area of Point Loma Avenue and Froude Street were told to leave.

San Diego police and firefighters responded to the incident. No valves where broken and SDG&E was able to secure the break.
