Need a Job? Home Depot is Hiring

Home Depot is hiring 60,000 people nationwide, 600 of those in San Diego, to beef up their sales force to prepare for "Spring Black Friday."

When winter has subsided and the weather is perfect for people to fix up their homes and gardens, the holiday sales have already passed.

The company decided to move its annual Black Friday sale from November to spring last year, to fit its most profitable season, Niemi said.

The retailer says spring and summer are their busiest times of the year. Home depot plans to hire seasonal employees during the months of February and March, just ahead of their second annual Spring Black Friday. The sale actually falls on four different weekends in March and April.

The new influx of employees will help weather the three-month spring rush the store experiences annually from March through June, said Home Depot spokeswoman Jean Niemi.

The seasonal workers will remain in the stores for about three months, adding a helping hand so full-time employees can devote more time to customers, Niemi said. She added that Home Depot will also be adding permanent jobs in the stores, but could not say how many.

Applications can be filled out online or at an in-store kiosk at any Home Depot store, the company said.
