Building center in Otay Mesa

In a time when many companies are downsizing, there is some welcome news for the county.

Federal Express plans to build a $26 million distribution center in Otay Mesa.  According to an article in the San Diego Union-Tribune, Federal Express will break ground on the center Thursday, which will eventually create jobs for at least 140 workers in the South Bay.

FedEx already operates two ground division centers in the county, which employs nearly 350 full and part-time jobs.

The new distribution center will be about 130,000 square feet.  It will employ package handlers, clerks, technicians, service managers and drivers.
