A multi-vehicle crash on northbound State Route 163 backed up traffic on the freeway Saturday, authorities said.
The collision happened just before noon near the Friars Road on-ramp.
At 12:20 p.m., officials issued a Sig Alert at northbound SR-163 from Interstate 8.
By 12:30 p.m., officials confirmed at least one patient had been transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
By 1 p.m., officials were beginning to clear the scene of the crash.
No further information was immediately available on the cause of the collision or exactly how many vehicles were involved.
