Motorcyclist Killed in SUV Collision

He was riding alone in Escondido

A male motorcyclist was killed Friday night after colliding with an SUV in Escondido, police said.

At 10:55 p.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communications Center received a report of a collision between a white Suzuki motorcycle and a black Mercedes Benz M-Class SUV in the 1000 block of W. El Norte Pkwy.

Four minutes later, officers arrived on the scene to find the downed motorcycle and its rider in westbound lane of El Norte Pkwy.

The male motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld, had sustained serious injuries and was riding alone. After being treated on the scene by paramedics, the man was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The female driver of the black Mercedes reported no injuries. The SUV suffered minor damage on the driver’s side door and deployed airbags.

According to information gathered at the scene, the motorcyclist was westbound on El Norte Pkwy when the Mercedes was making a left turn from the Vons Shopping Center to eastbound El Norte Pkwy. The two vehicles collided as the Mercedes turned into the path of the motorcyclist.
