Motorcyclist Killed After Short Police Chase in El Cajon

22-year-old Carl Lee Denmark was run over by a passing vehicle

A motorcyclist was killed after a brief police chase on Graves Avenue in El Cajon, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

Around 9:25 p.m., El Cajon police tried to stop a 22-year-old Carl Lee Denmark riding a Honda CBR motorcycle, but instead of pulling over, Denmark fled.

Police pursued him for about half a mile. As he rode into the 1400 block of Graves Avenue, Denmark lost control and was thrown off the bike.

He was then run over by a car driving by, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

The motorcycle skidded to a halt in the El Cajon Department of Motor Vehicles parking lot. Denmark was pronounced dead on the scene.

CHP officials said the two people in the passenger car were shaken up but not injured.

CHP El Cajon officers will continue investigating the incident.
