Motorcyclist Dies in Lakeside Accident

Solo collision reported happened just north of El Capital High School

A motorcyclist was killed after losing control of his bike on Ashwood St. in Lakeside Monday night, CHP officials said.

The motorcyclist lost control and was ejected on the northbound side of the road, just north of El Capitan High School at about 7 p.m., according to authorities on the scene.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene when medics arrived. No one else was involved in the crash.

After an investigation, authorities determined the motorcyclist was riding a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he lost control and traveled off the roadway, colliding into an embankment. The force of the collision ejected him from the bike and he came to rest in the middle of the northbound lane.

CHP officers provided traffic control while the road was cleared and the motorcycle was towed.
