Motorcyclist's Wheelie Led to Crash: SDPD

Police say the motorcycle’s headlight blinded the driver of an oncoming sedan.

A motorcyclist’s impromptu wheelie landed him in the hospital Monday, San Diego officials said.

The rider, identified only as a 23-year-old man, was riding southbound on South 32nd Street just before 10 p.m. when he was seriously injured in a collision with an oncoming car.

San Diego Police say the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light at Oceanview Boulevard.

Immediately after, the rider pulled a wheelie.

Police say the motorcycle’s headlight blinded the driver of an oncoming sedan.

The two vehicles collided and the motorcyclist suffered major trauma to his head and his body.

Official say his injuries were considered to be life threatening.
