A motorcyclist being pursued by a California Highway Patrol officer crashed near an off-ramp on northbound Interstate 15 Wednesday, officials said.
According to CHP officials, the pursuit began around 5:45 p.m. after an officer attempted to pull over a motorcycle. The motorcyclist sped away on northbound I-15, attempting to evade the officer.
After a short pursuit, the suspect exited on the Rancho Bernardo Road off-ramp and crashed the motorcycle.
The rider was taken into custody at the scene.
CHP and SDPD officers closed down part of the off-ramp following the crash and were providing traffic control in the area.
It is unclear why the motorcyclist didn’t stop for the CHP officer in the first place.
