The pedestrian hit by a motorcyclist near Palm Avenue at Egger Highlands has been pronounced dead, police said.
A 49-year-old man standing in the center divide of Palm Avenue's 1400 block began crossing the road shortly before 11:30 a.m. Monday.
He walked right into the path of a 39-year-old motorcyclist, San Diego police say.
The collision severed one of the pedestrian's legs and left him with serious internal injuries. He died at the hospital.
The motorcyclist has not been cited in this accident.
Traffic was blocked on Palm Avenue at 13th and 16th streets as officials responded to the incident.
The San Diego Police Department is investigating.
