More Local Retailers Join Cheese Recall

More retailers are pulling Bravo Farms cheeses from their shelves, now the Whole Foods Chain has joined the recall. Costco informed their members of a recall for Bravo Farms Dutch Style Raw Milk Gouda Cheese on Nov 4.

On Sunday, Whole Foods informed customers it would be removing Sage Cheddar, Silver Mountain Cheddar, Chipotle Cheddar, Premium Block Cheddar, Premium White Chunk Cheddar, Chipotle Chunk Cheddar and White Black Wax Cheddar from its shelves.

According to store managers at the company's La Jolla and Hillcrest stores, neither location carried any of the cheeses in question.

The cheeses were, however, sold at the company's other stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Arizona, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The cheeses, packaged in clear plastic wrap and sold with a "Distributed by Whole Foods Market" sticker, are part of a recall announced by Bravo Farms.

The company canceled all of its shipments after state officials found listeria at its plant in Traver.

Bravo Farms also recalled its Dutch Style Gouda after it was linked to an outbreak of E. coli bacteria.

Since mid-October, 38 people in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico have been sickened by E. coli linked to the cheese.
