Mom Holds Vigil 1 Year After Son's Death

No suspects in case

A 17-year-old who was shot in the street and left to die is remembered on the one-year anniversary of his slaying.

The family of Guy Christopher Lofton III gathered to release balloons, light candles and honor his memory Tuesday afternoon.  He was found dead in the 2300 block of Commercial Street in Logan Heights on Oct. 28, 2007.

He had suffered a gunshot wound and died from his injuries.  His murder remains unsolved.

"We're still trying to find closure," his mother said.  "To find out who shot him and left him on the sidewalk like an animal."

She said the past month has been particularly hard on her.  Lofton would have turned 18 on Wednesday.

His family members are hoping someone who knows something about the case will call police or Crime Stoppers.  Tips can be called in anonymously to 888-580-TIPS.
