Mission Beach Vacation Rental Goes Up in Flames

One person was treated for burns

San Diego firefighters battled a huge house fire in Mission Beach Sunday night.

Around 8:30 p.m., fire engulfed a two-story vacation rental in the 800 block of Kennebeck Ct.

Fire officials told NBC 7 that multiple people were staying in the house, but they all made it out safely. One person suffered burns and was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to officials.

Crews initially tried battling the fire from inside the house, but had to get out because of fears it could collapse.

Some firefighters stood on the roof of the house next door, dousing the burning structure with water.

The narrow alleys in the Mission Beach neighborhood posed an extra challenge for firefighters.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire. Crews expect to be on the scene into the early morning hours of Monday.
